Citizen Systems Europe, a leading manufacturer of high quality
label, barcode and industrial printers has announced that its
latest CLP 521, 621 and 631 machines are all now available
with support for Aztec and RSS symbology.
Developed for
use in demanding applications, the latest Citizen CLP label
printers are capable of fast print speeds of up to 4 inches
per second and, just as importantly, of producing high levels
of resolution and print accuracy, yet are virtually maintenance-free,
with easy change consumables.
Designed for use in a wide range of applications in the healthcare
and pharmaceutical sectors, the Aztec
and RSS symbology uses
unique symbols to prevent incorrect use of medical products
or dosing of medication to patients. The Aztec codes,
for example, can be used for bar coded identification wristbands
and labels in hospitals to improve patient safety at the point
of care, enabling the wristband to be matched to the relevant
medication, IV mixture, blood products or specimens.
By comparison with conventional bar codes, both the Aztec
and RSS symbology enable more detailed information to be printed
onto smaller areas. In turn, however, this requires high
levels of printing capabilities, in order to maintain print
quality and speed at competitive cost.
To address this need, the latest CLP label printers are capable
of producing resolutions of up to 300dpi at speeds of 4ips
and can be used as stand alone or networked devices. In
addition, they incorporate a range of features designed to
make them simple to setup and use; for example, each printer
feature a simple, robust all-metal clamshell mechanism and
high-lift print head, making it quick and easy to load and
change printer ribbons, while a replacement print head can
normally be fitted in less than a minute. They also incorporate
Citizen’s innovative active ribbon control and positioning
system (ARCP), which maintains a constant tension on the ribbon,
regardless of the length used, and eliminates the problems
of poor print quality caused by ribbons wrinkling or slipping.
The latest machines also feature internal power supplies,
standard parallel, serial and USB ports, internal Ethernet
options and can be supplied with auto-cutters and label peelers. They
also have full two year warranties, are available throughout
Europe from the company’s network of channel partners
and are backed by full technical and spares support.
