Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. of Japan

The Citizen Watch Company of Japan was founded in 1930 and since then, its record of achievement is distinguished by many firsts, such as the world's first analogue watch, accurate to within 3 seconds per year, and the world's thinnest movement.

In 1986 Citizen assumed the No 1 position in world watch production and has remained there ever since. Today Citizen is successful in many areas of ‘non-watch’ business – information equipment, electronic equipment, industrial machinery and equipment, jewellery and spectacles – and its Research and Development facilities are second-to-none, resulting in the development of technology that leads quickly to new products.

In 2007, the official name of Citizen Watch Co. Ltd was changed to Citizen Holdings Co. Ltd to provide a pure holding company system with a new Citizen Watch Co. Citizen Systems Japan Co., Ltd.

Citizen Systems Europe GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of Citizen Systems Japan Co. Ltd, itself a wholly owned subsiduary of the Citizen Holdings Co. Ltd.

Broadly speaking, Citizen Systems Japan is the part of the Citizen Group which looks after "finished product" IT products ranging from printers to healthcare and calculators.
